NO SMOKING PLEASE!

It entered my mind before to formulate a scripted answer if ever I enter politics and someone asked me what would be the first law that I would propose..At first it was the garbage problem that entered my mind. I have been to the Payatas Dumpsite when I was in college and I felt so sorry for all those kids living in that area. Although that same dumpsite is their main source of living, still the fact remains that they are exposed to harmful bacterias.
Last monday I woke up early so I wo't be late for work. Six Thirty AM, I got into a jeepney and when I sat down, I saw eight High School students, all girls in their white and blue uniform. I don't care if they were noisy and giggling all the time. What bothered me is the fact that they were (in a public transport) all smoking cigarettes! I just have very little patience ( and respect, sorry..) for smokers, especially those who do it in public places. Kaya nga di ako nag yoyosi, it is because I hate the smell! In an interview, Philippine Basketball's Living Legend and former Senator Robert Jworski was asked if he tried or what is his opinion about smoking. "Pag me usok nga na galing sa mga sasakyan, nagtatakip ka ng panyo, ilagay pa ba sa bibig ko.." That is precisely my point! In the carinderia where we buy our food during lunch, there was a signage that says "We don't mind if you smoke , just don't exhale"...
For some people it could be a minor thing, but I will never forget that morning when I had to cover half of my face with my hanky , just to avoid all the smoke from this young girls who thibks that SMOKING IS A COOL THING...I know, I could have asked the driver to stop so I could transfer to another jeepney, but what's the point in crying over spilled milk?
I have friends and relatives who are smokers. My Tatay used to smoke but he stopped for health reasons. I have not read a single article or study which mentions anything good associated with cigarettes. If ever there is, it will definitelly be outweighed by all the bad effects.
It is all about respect. Don't make Non-Smokers like me inhale the smoke what you exhale...Every stick of cigarette is equivalent to an hour of your life, and if you don't care about your health or smoking is more impotant to you than your life...well, ako I want to live long...especially now that I have someone. If you can't help it, please go to a place where you can smoke. Theres's this old OPM song called "Lumayo ka man sa akin...." I really really don't mind if you go away and smoke...
